Buckaroo 2016

This dramatic shot of a rough stock rider was taken on rodeo grounds in Clovis, California. The title borrows a cowboy slang term, buckaroo, which comes from the Spanish word for cowboy—vaquero. The bucking comes with the job. In a rodeo or on a ranch, the rough stock rider is about the toughest cowboy you’ll meet. He’ll ride a bucking bronc, either saddled or bareback, and even a full-grown bull.
